Marisa Tomei Hoops Her Way to a Stripper's Body for The Wrestler

Marisa Tomei (44) portrays a fierce New Jersey pole dancer who heats up the screen in Darren Aronofsky’s drama The Wrestler. When getting herself in shape for her nude scenes in the film, Tomei turned to her favorite exercise tool – a hula hoop. She learned many of her hoopdance moves from LA based company, Hoopnotica. Hoopdance can burn 400 – 600 calories an hour while working the abs and other major muscles for a low-impact and sexy exercise.

Hooping not only got Marisa’s body tight, it helped her stay grounded on set. She told USA Today, “It feels really good, and it’s really calming. I bring one to all the sets now. You’re waiting and you have all this extra energy and you want to stay focused and relaxed and [there is] something about that hoop – you do it and it calms you down. Honestly, it’s the best thing.”

Everyone can get a hoop to take for a spin with Hoopnotica’s Travel Hoop which breaks down into segments available for $29.95 from Hoopnotica.com.
