Guest Blog Post: Fashion Under $50

It’s Not About the Money, It’s About the Style

It is important to remember, when discussing fashion fervor under $50, that the skirt you look at every morning before dressing for the office—or the pants you have worn too many times to count, yet still manage to look lovely in—or the shirt that hits the body just so — is a part of this special discussion. Fashion is a visual representation of who you are, not what you paid for the item. Look at those classic pieces a new way.

I am totally in love with Francesca’s Collections. Great store, both in person and online!

Jumpsuits can be worn by most women at most ages with heels or flats and completed with a leather Ballmer. The Material Girl Jumper you are seeing, it’s $38! You have a dramatic bracelet and fun heel already in the closet, so be bold!

Pair these satin cropped bottoms, ($34.99 at Banana Republic), with your basic white tee and skinny belt.

Those jeans that you were considering discarding, just last week, halt! Take them and all their well-worn glory and match it with ruffle white shirt for $29 from Banana Republic.

Follow me to the Target store for a moment and be Goth. Wear all black - black pants, black shirt, black heels, but try on this for size - the Mossimo® Black Satin Wrap Trench Jacket for $39.99.

There are a few of us that love dresses. Haven’t we all worn the same colorful dress, paired with our favorite heels? Shop at Banana Republic and spruce up that flowy garment with a rock or necklace from this classic store. Spending $35 on the Herald Ring may seem too much. It changes the look of a complete outfit. Embrace your style! The Chain of Leaves Necklace is $40.

There is not much to say about this last staple, except it does add the dot and cross the “T” to the ensemble… slide on a grey heel with any color pallet for $35 at Payless Shoesource. Didn’t think this came from Payless? Well, it shocked me too!

With all of this said, as an owner of a haute-couture designer agency, Belles & Bulls, and a woman who appreciates the feeling of a dress that can be worn with any shoe, earring, or trench, I am a fan of a key piece.

Make your look sing. Sing what, you ask? I will tell you. Sing the song of a person who is clear on their style, fearless in their approach, and not as concerned with, “How much did I pay?”, but “How do I feel!”

With fun & passion,

Ebonni N. Bryant

P.S. Go to http://www.retailmenot.com (or http://www.fashionfling.com) for phenomenal discounts on all your favorite shops. Before you poo poo it off. I just purchased one of those amazing satin holiday dresses from Banana Republic for $40, it normally retails for $120. I know… I’m not telling you a fib, it is true.
