On Friday, October 9th, Sony Pictures will launch one of the year’s most highly-anticipated fashion films, Coco before Chanel (the moving opening schedule is here). The plot follows the story of Coco Chanel's rise from obscure beginnings to the heights of the fashion world. Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel defined countless elements of fashion. One of the biggest benchmarks of the brand, other than the iconic tweed coat and Chanel No.5 fragrance, was the little black dress. In 1926, Chanel published a picture of a short, simple black dress in Vogue, who called it “Chanel’s Ford.” Like the Model T, the little black dress was simple and accessible for women of all social classes. Vogue also said that the LBD would become “a sort of uniform for all women of taste.”
