Ippolita Celebrates Ten Years at Bergdorf Goodman

In honor of the brand’s 10th anniversary with luxury retailer Bergdorf Goodman, Ippolita has been commissioned to create a series of in-store art installations. Marrying her passion for art with jewelry design, Ippolita’s sculptures will be displayed prominently in Bergdorf Goodman’s Fifth Avenue window as well as in their Luxury Room located on the 1st floor. The sculptural gold designs pay homage to Ippolita’s signature jewelry and are reflective of her original alloy of 18kt yellow gold used throughout her fine jewelry collections.

In partnership with Bergdorf Goodman, Ippolita has also issued a limited-edition collection of jewelry inspired by the brand’s archives and the first collection Ippolita designed in 2000. Each piece is hand-engraved with “Ippolita Anniversary 2010” to commemorate this exciting milestone in the brand’s history.



My current work is a contemporary interpretation of traditional reliquaries, a series of transparent glass containers, each in the shape of a body part. In lieu of a relic they contain small video installations, poetic visual renderings of social concepts like shelter, war, language, love, and power.

The shelter reliquary is now on view in a window at Bergdorf Goodman. The entire body is seen as the ultimate shelter only that here the only thing left standing is the spine while the bones have all fallen away. The spine represents the resilience of the human spirit and our faith in rebuilding (the video footage has not been included in the current installation).
