Exclusive: 20% off with coupon code: FASHIONFLING Exp. 10/15/12

Crash & Burn is available online, Buckle stores and specialty boutiques nationwide. To see full list of store locations, please visit the store locator page.

It's officially fall, yet the unsteady temperatures are not exactly welcoming heavy knit sweaters, military coats, and leather pants. This is why Crash & Burn recently came out with transitional pieces for the fall season, such as the Dixie Poncho ($88) and the Annie Fringe Skirt ($76). These pieces have been made with buttery soft supima blends, which have been hand sewn and braided.

I'm in love with the Cherokee Dress ($88). Not only does it fit me perfectly, but it is beautiful in every sense of the word. It's stated on their web-site that this dress is black. Unless a few people and I are color-blind, I'd say that this dress is more of a smokey gray than black. However, I think that this was stated in error on their web-site. Either way, it is simply gorgeous! I wish they would offer more colors for this dress, especially one that is actually black!

This dress in particular looks good on its own, but you can easily pair it alongside equally stylish company - a ladylike blazer with ruched sleeves and pumps, such as the Naughty Monkey Untamed Pumps (Was $84.99 Now $70.54 at Heels.com) and the Charlotte Russe Classic Black Ruched-Sleeve Blazer ($36.99 at Charlotte Russe) or Charlotte Russe Classic Black Ponte Blazer ($34.99 at Charlotte Russe), which will transition your look from collegiate to the new colleague within minutes!

Ashley Greene Celebrates Alexandre Birman's Debut Collection at Saks Fifth Avenue During NYFW 2012

Alexandre Birman celebrated the launch of his Fall 2012 collection today at the newly renovated Saks Fifth Avenue shoe floor, 10022-SHOE. Together with guest of honor actress Ashley Greene and cult fashion icon Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, supermodels including Bar Refaeli and Amanda Gresser, and socialites such as Maria Buccellati, Inga Rubenstein, Dori Cooperman, Karen Larrain and Lucrezia Butti, the shoe designer luncheoned at Café S5A before making his way to the beautifully displayed footwear collection on the shoe floor.>

Under the iconic Saks chandelier ceiling bubble installation, four leggy models posed in luxurious winter runway ensembles while showing off the season's hottest Alexandre Birman shoe trends. Crowds gathered as Alexandre walked Twilight star Ashley Greene through the new collection and she pointed out her favorite styles: intricately crafted python platforms, vibrantly blue toned pumps and luxurious suede and exotic skinned ankle booties. The actress, pairing her Birman shoes with a Missoni dress, later left Saks carrying shopping bags filled with as many as five purchased pairs of Birman's new fall shoes.>

Also, there to celebrate with Alexandre were Saks executives and Brazilian models, as well as the New York store’s top VIP customers. As he is a member of the committee, the designer and Saks donated 10% of all sales proceeds today to the Brazilian Foundation.>

Prices for the new collection available at Saks Fifth Avenue range from $495 to $995. >

About Alexandre Birman:

Alexandre Birman, recipient of Women’s Wear Daily’s prestige Vivian Infantino Emerging Talent Award and recently named Designer Footwear’s Next Guard by Footwear News, began his shoe designing career at the age of 12 at his father’s shoemaking factory in Brazil. After debuting his own namesake line in the U.S. market in Spring of 2008, Birman’s high-fashion women’s collection has been picked up by some of the world’s most prestigious retailers, such as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Printemps and Lane Crawford. His innovative designs and strong brand image has resulted in Birman’s collection taking the American shoe market by storm and continued publicity from some of the most popular magazines such as: Vogue, ELLE, W, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair and Marie Claire. Birman’s luxury footwear is loved by Hollywood starlets such as Kate Hudson, Anne Hathaway, Zoe Saldana, Giselle Bundchen, Jennifer Lopez, Anna Paquin, Jessica Alba, Leighton Meester, Diane Kruger, Blake Lively and Olivia Palermo. Name recognition of his brand aired on CW’s “Gossip Girl” in Spring of 2010, when Meester’s character, Blair, mentioned Birman’s name and confessed her undying love for his signature peep toe booties.

Fashion is Art and Art is Fashion

Friday, September 07, 2012

I believe if it weren't for art, fashion wouldn't exist since art has inspired many esteemed fashion designers, such as Gianni Versace, Marc Jacobs, Rodarte, Yves Saint Laurent, Elsa Schiaparelli, to name a selective few out of a varied bunch. Elsa Schiaparelli, an Italian fashion designer, was influenced by surrealist artist, Salvador Dalí, because her designs were just as flamboyant and eccentric as his art pieces. An artist in a different form, Lady Gaga is the Elsa Schiaparelli of our day, because her fashion choices often leaves us speechless. Like Elsa Schiaparelli, she loves to shock us, making us wonder what she is going think of next. I can easily see her wearing the Skeleton Dress, which was designed by Schiaparelli in 1938.

Rodarte, a haute couture line introduced by two sisters in 2005, paid homage to the mentally unbalanced, wildly eccentric, yet undeniably skillful, Van Gogh, with their ethereal Spring 2012 collection. The collection entailed beautiful hues of yellows, blues, and wondrously painted flowers, which was very reminiscent of one of his most famous pieces, the Starry Starry Night. It was one of the most influential, creative, and talked about collections!

Art and fashion go hand in hand. One wouldn't survive without the other. Both can bring out the best in each other if done right.

Take your artistic talents to the next level, because the search is on for the most original people in art, music, and fashion. Submit your work or nominate someone at ORGNL.TV.
