According to Soldier’s Angels a group whose mission it is to boost morale amongst our soldiers, 8 of 10 soldiers who anticipated being home this holiday will not be coming home due to increased need for troops in Afghanistan. Due to this surge and the likely drop in morale, it is critical that our soldiers feel acknowledged and appreciated especially during the holidays.

Bake Me a Wish!, an on-line gourmet cake shop that ships tens of thousands of cakes throughout United States each year along with Soldier’s Angels, have identified 20 platoons (or bases) in Iraq and Afghanistan and will begin to ship out gourmet cakes to add a bit of sweetness to a tough situation for our troops. In early November 3,500 cakes were shipped out to arrive for Thanksgiving and in early December, another 3,500 cakes will be sent. Five percent of all sales on Bake Me a Wish goes to this annual holiday effort plus Operation: Birthday cake, a program that sends soldiers birthday cakes on or close to their birthdays throughout the year. Everyone can get involved this holiday just by sending a cake to a loved one and 5% will go to this great cause. With over 20 cakes to choose from including Red Velvet, Chocolate Chip Mint, Cookies and Cream and Magic Bar Brownie Cake, there is a perfect way to say happy holidays for every taste. Sending a Bake Me a Wish! cake to a friend or family member really makes an impression (far better than flowers). Got a chocolate-loving Aunt in another state? Send her the decadent Triple Chocolate Enrobed Brownie Cake. Imagine the sweet holiday surprise to have a delicious gourmet cake arrive at your doorstep. Imagine how convenient it is to order cakes for holiday entertaining.

We had the opportunity to serve a cake from Bake Me a Wish! for Thanksgiving. Did I get enough? No! Our little man kept going to it, saying "I'm hungry". He couldn't get enough. It was delicious!
